Winter

What does winter take from you, and how do you keep your army?

11:57 · running time

Ticks itself once you've watched nearly all of it.

In a nutshell

  1. Wipe the slate, go indoors; ships first, to their nearest own port, and nothing stops them
  2. Armies outside their own walls: capital or nearest own walled city (max 4 outside a capital)
  3. Every step on the road friendly and free of unrest, or lose half (round up)
  4. Sieges end; unspent treasures are lost
  5. Big alliances end (not England's Ottomans); a free regular in each capital you hold
The road home for an English pair in Glasgow, lit space by space to London: every step friendly and free of unrest (a what-if Unrest marker at Shrewsbury rules that way out), the starting space doesn't count, and enemy troops on the road, like the faint French regular at Carlisle, are ignored. At 4:37.

What if England's pair had moved on into Stirling? No walls, no port, and its three neighbours, Perth, Edinburgh and Glasgow, are all French. Half of two is one: one regular is lost, and the survivor still gets home to London. At 8:29.
